Building a Collaborative Workspace

The traditional office space is all relative; things are designed for maximized and optimal function in order to promote the best productivity possible. However, the moodern era that we’re in requires a modern space to get things done in. As more and more offices forgo what was considered the norm in terms of office design, the idea of collaborative workspaces is something which has (and continues to be) adopted by many of the world’s largest organizations.

Here are some important considerations to make when it comes to embracing a collaborative space for your organization:

  • An open plan and other design features (e.g., high-traffic staircases) that encourage accidental interactions.
  • More common areas than are strictly necessary—multiple cafeterias, other places to read and work that encourage workers to leave confined offices.
  • Emphasis on areas that hold two or more people, rather than single-occupancy offices.
  • Purpose-free generic “thinking” areas in open-plan spaces, which encourage workers to do their thinking in the presence of other people, rather than alone. (source: 99u.com)

Here at Burovision the creation of any workspace first starts with a collaboration between us and the client; together we can go over what makes them and their particular set of product/service offerings unique. With that information we can then develop the perfect functional space that is fitting with the brand.
